1. Ganesh Chaturthi is also known as 'Vinayak Chaturthi'.
2. Ganesh Utsav is celebrated for ten days from Bhadrapada Chaturthi Tithi i.e. Anant Chaturdashi.
3. This festival is celebrated with great pomp in Maharashtra but now it is also celebrated with great pomp in South India and North India. People establish the idol of Ganesha in their home, street, a locality with reverence, and every day their worship, aarti, and colorful programs make the atmosphere devotional.
4. After three, five, or ten days the idol is immersed. There is a belief behind immersion that the way guests come to the house, they bring something in the same way, we also call God to our house every year, if they come into the house, then they definitely bring something for everyone. There are prosperity and happiness in the house.
5. Ganapati - Gan + husband. 'Husband' means a follower. The word 'Gana' has various meanings - according to Maharishi Panini: 'Gana', that is, a group of Ashtavastus. Vasu means Disha, Dikpal (protector of directions), or Dikadeva. Hence Ganapati means husband of directions, lord.
6. No deity can come from any direction without the permission of Ganapati, therefore Ganapati worship is mandatory before any Mars work or worship of the deity. Only after the liberation of all directions by Ganapati can the deity worshiped come to the place of worship. This method is called Mahadwar Pujan or Mahaganapati Pujan.
7. No work begins without worshiping Lord Ganpati. Ganesha, revered as the deity-destroyer, is the deity to overcome all obstacles and fulfill all desires.
Shriganesh is the God who provides fairness, rationality, intelligence, and impartiality. Just as a small fraction of oil in a drop of water, it cannot dissolve completely in water, similarly, until the Ganapati devotee assimilates all the characteristics of Ganapati, he cannot be identical with Ganapati.
